EIGERlab FastPitch competition set for October

ROCKFORD, Illinois – The Northern Illinois University EIGERlab will hold its 11th annual FastPitch Competition on October 4, giving entrepreneurs from across the region three minutes to convince judges to invest in their idea.

The EIGERlab competition was launched before ABC’s “Shark Tank” and organizers now market the event as “Shark Tank” without the bite.

This year, entrepreneurs will be competing for a first-place prize of $5,000. EIGERlab invites ideas that are in the startup or pre-startup phase and high school and college students are welcome as well.

Thinker has been honored over the years to work with a few of the FastPitch winners, including Stacy McCaskill’s Fishwithme.net, which is becoming the FaceBook of fishing without the politics, and Nicole Sdao’s NonprofitTHRIVE.com, which is a national platform to connect volunteers to needy nonprofits and track the amount of work they donate.

The 2016 winner was Michelle Gast of Cary, Illinois, and her recoup BEAUTISCOOP, a dual-ended beauty spatula designed to scoop every last drop of beauty and personal care products out of their tight-necked containers.
